I am David Carthum, principal of Oakview Elementary. It is my pleasure to serve you and your children throughout the school year. At Oakview, our dedicated staff works very hard to provide a high quality course of study in an environment that honors the individual needs of all students. We are committed to growing as professionals as well as modeling the necessity of being life-long learners. During the course of the year, we will continue to work tirelessly to make sure your students will get the best possible education.
The mission of Oakview School is to ensure that each student learns the essential skills necessary to be a responsible productive citizen, effective communicator, creative problem solver and life-long learner through a positive educational climate that promotes the potential of each student, encourages risk-taking and expands school/parent/community partnerships in our global society.
We encourage learning by providing core academic education, creative instruction, after school enrichment activities, and support programs to enable all students to succeed. Students are also provided the opportunity to participate in Strings, Band, Choir, and Music classes. Additionally, we offer an outdoor education opportunity to our sixth grade students in the spring that is held at Camp Cispus.
