Facilitator - Roberta McElroy (E-mail rmcelroy@centralia.wednet.edu)

What are the key elements of Success For All?
-
Students are grouped across age and grade lines for instruction at the appropriate level for 90 minutes each day.
-
The size of the groups is kept as small as possible.
-
20 minutes of homework is required Monday through Friday.
-
Early Learning (Kindergarten) emphasizes language development, reading readiness, and positive self-concept.
-
Roots (First Grade level readers) emphasizes language skills and launches students into reading phonetically regular storybooks.
-
Wings (Second Grade level readers and up) makes use of our Open Court basal reading series and novels. Lessons are carefully structured to provide opportunities for reading, writing and discussion.
-
Cooperative learning is used with students working in teams and partnerships.
-
Assessments are taken every eight weeks with changes in placement made to reflect student growth.
-
Trained Reading Tutors work one-on-one with students who need extra help.
-
A full-time facilitator is employed to help oversee the implementation of the program goals.
-
The Family Support Team works with families to provide help with attendance, academic, or behavior concerns.
