What are the key elements of Success For All?

  • Students are grouped across age and grade lines for instruction at the appropriate level for 90 minutes each day.

  • The size of the groups is kept as small as possible.

  • 20 minutes of homework is required Monday through Friday.

  • Early Learning (Kindergarten) emphasizes language development, reading readiness, and positive self-concept.

  • Roots (First Grade level readers) emphasizes language skills and launches students into reading phonetically regular storybooks.

  • Wings (Second Grade level readers and up) makes use of our Open Court basal reading series and novels. Lessons are carefully structured to provide opportunities for reading, writing and discussion.

  • Cooperative learning is used with students working in teams and partnerships.

  • Assessments are taken every eight weeks with changes in placement made to reflect student growth.

  • Trained Reading Tutors work one-on-one with students who need extra help.

  • A full-time facilitator is employed to help oversee the implementation of the program goals.

  • The Family Support Team works with families to provide help with attendance, academic, or behavior concerns.
